Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book?

Firstly, we recommend that you book as far in advance as possible, particularly if you are planning a high-season affair (Christmas or a mid-summer wedding) or if you are a scheduling a Saturday evening event. It’s always worth a call or an email, however, because even if we are already booked up, we may be able to point you in the right direction.

Do please read through this FAQS page before you call or email as it may help answer the many questions you are bound to have or it may just help you formulate further queries that we haven’t thought to cover.

What do you charge?

Fees are from £480 for a duo (vocals and piano) and are tailored on an individual basis, depending upon how many musicians you require and where the event is taking place. Our quote will include up to four hours of playing time, travel expenses, sound equipment (including a digital piano if the venue does not have a decent piano), VAT and, if you wish the provision of music to be seamless, a range of jazz & swing cds which we will play over the sound system during any short break the musicians take. We will tailor the amount of playing time to suit your event, rather than playing set length “sets.”

Please click HERE for an obligation free quote for any of the above line ups or call Beth on 020 8941 5963 or mobile 07904 587033. Alternatively you can contact Eugene on 01342 835394 or mobile 07939 024944.

What is a “line up” and what should I ask for?

Beyond cost constraints, either Beth or Eugene will be happy to help you decide what line up (i.e. what combination of musicians, or “ensemble”) is likely to suit your event and your venue best. The choices are:

A Duo – piano & vocals

A Trio – this can be piano, bass & vocals or piano, drums & vocals

A Quartet – this is traditionally piano, bass, drums & vocals

A Quintet - piano, bass, drums, sax & vocals

How far do you travel?

We are based in the South East and of course do a lot of work within London and all around the M25, in Essex, Cambridgeshire, Bucks & Berkshire, Surrey and Hampshire but we also regularly travel slightly further afield into Sussex, Dorset, Lincolnshire, Norfolk. Northamptonshire and the Midlands. Provided that travel expenses are included and that the travel times do not have an impact on other engagements, we will be happy to travel anywhere within the UK.

What if the venue doesn’t have a piano?

This is not a problem. Eugene can set up his Yamaha digital piano with excellent sound. This can be useful where you need the musicians to move to another location during the event (in a wedding, for example). Set up takes approximately half an hour.

What about outdoor events?

Outdoor is fine but we do need cover for ourselves and the equipment to protect both us and it from excessive sun – don’t you wish! – or (more likely) from torrential rain.

Do you provide recorded music to cover those periods when the ensemble isn’t playing?

Yes. We can arrange for standard jazz or swing cds to play through our sound equipment so that your event runs seamlessly.

How much music do you provide?

We tailor the music to fit your event, but we are happy to play up to four hours (with breaks).

Can you provide special seasonal music for Christmas events?

Yes! In addition to her regular repertoire, Beth loves to sing Christmas music – both the popular classics (for example, White Christmas, Let is snow! and Santa Claus is Coming to Town) but also some of your favourite carols that can be adapted to the jazz treatment. Beth has been singing Christmas services and Christmas concerts since she was 7 and she knows heaps of Christmas material, so feel free to ask IN ADVANCE if you have any particular favourites. (Beth may know your request, but the band need to know it too and the music has to be in the right key for everyone!)
